Next week you will be learning about introductions. Think of some ways an introduction can be poorly written or delivered. Describe them briefly. Then, find an introduction you think has a poor delivery (post the link for your peers to see). Based on what you found, give methods or tips that can strengthen the introduction to provide a more powerful beginning.

Having a good established introduction sets the speech’s mood. If the introduction isn’t present well, the audience will not be interested or even pay attention. Some ways an introduction can be poorly delivered are if the speaker does not give eye contact, does not speak clearly and loud enough, or even enthusiastic about their speech.

The speech in the link above is a speech from a politician. The speaker is too loud and the way he is speaking to the audience, he is like yelling at them. He also is moving way too much which is distracting and also uses gestures like pointing as if he is demanding something. Speaker is also looking at his notes way too frequently and seems like he did not practice his speech.

Ways he could have improved his speech by not talking like he is yelling and lowering his tone and possibly limiting his moving away from the podium. Speaker could have also started the speech by giving a joke or just setting the tone for the speech instead of jumping straight into information about him and not yelling like he is a football coach during a tied game. Although he might have been getting his information, it was quite hard to pay attention as since he was yelling.  Over all, if he had tones his voice, limited his movement and did not look at his notes too often, the speech could have gone well.
